Volunteer Event: Angels in the Outfield!

Young Professionals Connection is partnering with The Kiwanis Miracle League for a fun, energetic Saturday afternoon of baseball! Sign up to volunteer as an Angel - Angels are assigned to a player and assist the player in batting, catching, fielding the ball, etc. Some Angels assist by maneuvering the player's wheelchair around the bases, holding their hands while running, etc.
The Kiwanis Miracle League is our featured nonprofit organization for the month of June! To volunteer for this month's event, register for the morning session or the afternoon session!

Kiwanis Miracle League
Miracles continued to happen daily as we built the first Miracle League ball park in Iowa. Members of Des Moines Kiwanis learned about Miracle Leagues in early 2007 and took the information to the Des Moines Kiwanis board and membership in May, as well as to the other metro area Kiwanis Clubs. All agreed that we should take on this project--after all, over 3100 kids (ages 5 - 15 in Polk, Warren, and Dallas Counties) have disabilities that prevent them from playing baseball, let alone organized baseball on teams, like little league.
The Miracle League Field is located downtown, right across from Principal Park on Third Street, and on the Meredith Trail/Principal Riverwalk. Our Volunteers Committee is actively seeking individuals throughout the community to serve as "buddies" to the players, serve as coaches, assistant coaches, umpires, etc., and to participate in "work days" at the site when necessary.
