We are just around the corner from a signature and well-know event in Des Moines-The Golden Circle Games. Developed just 29 years ago by four spirited companies, of which participated in a small but competitive day of team-building games – today has grown into one of the Greater Des Moines Partnership’s and Young Professionals Connection’s biggest events of the year.
As part of the event each year the Golden Circle Games partners with a Charitable Organization and teams are asked to bring donations, usually in the form of supplies, to give to that specific organization. This is a great way in which YPC and Greater Des Moines can easily help support our community.
Each years games also asks teams to participate by arriving in costume. The costumes generally relate to each years theme and, along with a games champion, there are also best costume awards presented.
The games themselves are very loosely competitive and range from wheelbarrow races, tug-o-war, to hoola-hoop tosses and twister. To compete in any of these games, you do not need to be an athlete and participants ages vary greatly. Games also vary year-to-year and aim to generate relationship-building between teammates and a causal networking environment for teams to interact with one another. A tie-breaking event will crown the eventual winner of each year's Golden Circle Games."
