| Job / Employer Description: |
As Fund Development Manager for Girl Scouts of Greater Iowa, I work to develop relationships with Girl Scout Alumnae, cultivate potential donors, organize fundraising events, and foster partnerships with area businesses. |
| Activities / Involvement in the Community: |
In college I worked with Girl Scouts to help high-risk middle school girls develop self-esteem and positive body image. This experience was so rewarding and really motivated me to want to work for an organization that meets the unique needs that girls face today. It is my goal that the work I do helps to increase opportunities for girls to take charge and be leaders in their communities. I also give back through serving on the charitable committee for YPC. Volunteering through YPC has allowed me to learn about the non profit community in diverse ways. From helping with the 80/35 Do More Village or assisting with the organization of the YPC Non Profit forum. It has been a lot of fun! Additionally, I volunteer with Young Variety's Bike buddies, serve as an advisor for my sorority and recently joined Junior League of Des Moines. Being active is a huge passion of mine and Des Moines is a great city to get involved as a young person! |
| Favorite Things to Do in Des Moines |
I enjoy going for long runs, blogging, trying new restaurants and just experiencing Des Moines. Growing up in the area, I never thought it would be a fun place to live. It is so cool to see how much has changed in the area since then. Whether it is going to the farmers market on Saturdays, hitting the trails to train for a race, getting involved in YPC activities or going downtown to catch a concert. I have really fallen in love with the city. |
| Something People Don't Know About Me: |
One thing that seems to shock a lot of people is that I studied abroad in Krakow, Poland during College. Poland is not a typical 1st choice for many college students! It was an awesome experience! I fell in love with the language, history and the people. I hope to take a trip back in the next year. |
