The Young Professionals Connection (YPC) and its members are committed to attracting and retaining young professionals to the Greater Des Moines community. This December, the organization will recognize the individual who best exemplifies the leadership qualities of its longest-tenured president, Amy Jennings.
2007 was the inaugural year for the Amy Jennings YP of the Year Award. The award was presented by the YPC board of directors to Amy Jennings after she completed her fourth year of service on the board. It was then proclaimed that the award would be given annually to a young professional who demonstrated the mission of YPC through leadership in professional development, civic, charitable, and social endeavors in Greater Des Moines.

The next “Amy Jennings YP of the Year” must exemplify the core of YPC’s mission, as well as the characteristics displayed by YPC’s longest tenured president, Amy Jennings. He or she does not have to be a current member of YPC, but must be a professional under the age of 40 living in the Greater Des Moines area.
The selection committee will also consider the following about the nominee:
1) Focus on his/her own professional development
2) Involvement in charitable efforts, which could include monetary or physical donations, with specific emphasis on physical donations
3) Role as an engaged civic citizen
4) Personal promotion of the Greater Des Moines area whenever possible
5) Social activity and networking involvement
Nomination Process
To be considered for the Amy Jennings YP of the Year Award, an individual must be nominated and should display the YPC spirit of civic involvement, charitable giving, social activity and professional development. The winner of the award will be announced in December at YPC’s Annual Meeting.
The award selection committee is made up of both YPC Board members and non-board members. All nominations will be considered in the selection process and the previous year’s winner is also included on the selection committee to determine the next recipient.
