Ashley Okland Community Service Award - Young Professionals Connection

Ashley Okland Community Service Award

Beginning in 2011, each year, the Young Professionals Connection (YPC) will recognize the achievements of one outstanding young volunteer in the Greater Des Moines area that excels in the area of community service. The “Ashley Okland Community Service” nominee must exemplify the core values of volunteerism, giving back, and putting others before themselves as YPC’s late board member Ashley Okland did.

He or she does not have to be a current member of YPC, but must be a professional under the age of 40 living in Greater Des Moines. Each year, the award recipient will receive $100 to donate to his or her charity of choice on behalf of YPC.

The selection committee will consider the following

1. Focus on his/her community and volunteerism.

2. Involvement in charitable efforts, with specific emphasis on volunteering.
3. Role as an engaged community member who places others first.

4. Promotes non-profit organizations in the Greater Des Moines area whenever possible.
5. Has involvement in two or more non-profit organizations.
